OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To develop and implement health systems based on primary health care, supporting universal coverage.

Description of duties

The incumbent is assigned all or part of the following responsibilities which are performed according to the needs and agenda

• To support Member States in the establishment and further development of best practices in service delivery and quality systems design and foster the development and implementation of evidence-based policies and strategies.
• To encourage and enable the dissemination of evidence-based research results, tools and best practices on service delivery and quality systems.
• Encourage information-sharing and assist to develop and maintain sub-regional and regional databases with reliable and accurate data and information..
• To provide technical expertise to countries for the development, implementation and strengthening service delivery strategies within the context of existing national strategic plans.
• Support establishing, revising and adapting guidelines to ensure effective coordinated and integrated people-centered health services delivery with emphasis on quality management systems, capacity building and strengthening partnerships.
• Support M&E and reporting on sub-regional countries' trends and progress.
• To play a part in the implementation of sub-regional and regional strategic policies on delivery of quality health services, and support resource mobilization and advocacy in support of country health sector needs.
• To perform other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.
